P.S. But I suspect that at this point my question is independent
of the figure's overall shape. I'm asking simply whether,
given a 3D vertex of 3 faces, its interfacial angles can be
computed just from its 2D edge-pair angles, once known.

Yes, have, thanks. I mangled together a little paper model
from his -- Tom Ace's -- face PDFs. Helped a lot to get my
mind around this thing. FYI. though, I do prefer Szilassi's
face-naming convention, as it better conveys congruence
relationships.
