I have a j process that runs on my mail server and monitors SMTP
activity. It loops in a 1 second delay loop and looks out at several
system things, moves files around etc. It has run for more than a
year without restarting. Perhaps as much as 3 years without
restarting - 3 years is the longest I've been able to avoid a restart
of the Linux system (not because of software, but because of power
failures.... :)

So a year of loops at 1 second intervals is at least o. 1e7
iterations without any troubles.
