Oleg - in this case, I deliberately used a larger than usual scan to
compensate for some blurriness in the scanned image - I don't want to tear
up my copy of Vector, so I scanned a double-page spread which is harder to
get flat on the scanner.

I usually use my old laptop which has a screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 and
I scan the images in at 400 dpi, then shrink them to 66% in an attempt to
preserve clarity while getting the file sizes down.

I've re-scanned some of the blurrier pages and shrunk them to 40% - take a
look at http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/DevonMcCormick/JacobiByMcIntyre2 to
see if it's more readable.

Regards,

Devon
