I see this 'write only' criticism, and I see what to me is the best 
explanation so far: domain expertise without software expertise leads to 
powerful yet unmaintainable software.  IMO, Perl deserves that title 
more.  I've assigned values to Perl variables, and could not for the 
life of me see what those values were.
