I do not see that behavior in Linux with viewmat - the plot stays and I
can enter new commands or make new viewmat plots.
BUT ... after running pacman today, which updated various plot packages,
plot now is broken (for me at least). If I try a simple plot I get

   plot a;b
|rank error: l
| glqwh__l y[[l=.locGL2_jgl2_

Were any changes made to the distribution that could cause this behavior
under Linux? (plotting with "pd" gives the same error).

Can you confirm that you are creating the plot/viewmat from a Gtk IDE session?
If so then I can't confirm that behaviour (on Linux) i.e. the session
is still available, with an open graphic window.

I've mentioned this before: when I do a "plot" or "viewmat" in J7, my
invoking session waits on the graphic window.  In other words, I cannot do
anything in my session until I kill the graphic window.  This is an
important difference from J6 as I usually save the graphic, after it is
rendered, with a command in the session.

Does anyone else see this behavior?
