Hi Linda - glad to see you participating in the J Forums. Our next NYCJUG will be on your side of the river if you can make your way to Hoboken (I have not actually confirmed the venue yet, but we're due to have one there).
I haven't posted the notes from the last meeting but we talked about the value of having a knowledgeable newbie like you to remind us of the problems people have when they first encounter J. Other than that, things are going well: I have a new job I like, my daughter is enjoying her sophomore year at Williams College, and the kidney I gave to my wife a year ago seems to be doing fine too.
