Since I wasn't running JGTK but J602 on a Mac, I followed Chris' hint and found it was even simpler to change the Edit | Configure | Shortcuts then select Studio | Advance, and modify to F6 (all the function keys are available as shortcuts as well as other combinations). This didn't require a restart to take effect and was a pretty clean way to customize.
