If we think of the printer as building up a sequence of lines on a
plane (and in turn building up a sequence of planes), you can model
the ink selection process as counting the number of plane
intersections traversed by one of these lines.  Where you have crossed
an odd number of triangles you lay down ink (and you discard lines
with no ink).
