Certain Invenio versions need certain MySQLdb versions, and if you
upgrade latter without upgrading the former, then your symptoms may
appear.
To check out this possibility, which version of Invenio do you run, and
what is your MySQLdb version? Is your MySQLdb version conform to what
is recommended in the INSTALL guide corresponding to your Invenio
version?
