Hi,

I am very interested in this project, because we have exactly the problem this adresses: new hardware (Dell Optiplex 755) which is not supported by etch. Even the kernel from backports.org (2.6.22) does not help, so we are experimenting with backporting 2.6.24.

I had a look at etch1/2 today, following the instructions on wiki.debian.org/EtchAndAHalf, but couldn't see any new linux-images.

A few minor issues I noticed:

o) simply adding a "deb ... etch-proposed-updates" line to
sources.list does not work (for ftp.de.debian.org), I googled
   that mirrors.kernel.org/debian works

o) a hint for using apt pinning in order to control which packages
from etch1/2 will be installed would be useful

o) contray to what I gathered from your discussions, there are plenty
of new KDE packages. Do you plan to support KDE/gnome upgrades?

Cheers, Stefan
