Is there anything that I can do in this regard? Could this be considered critical enough to be fixed in etchnahalf?
Should I proceed with requests to get hal and mount backported? Will that help? The way in which i solve this, currently, is to use the bpo fuse and ntfs-3g and make an icon on the desktop that runs kdesu which runs a mount script. this is ugly and may not work when the removable device gets a different name for some reason.
