Just to be clear, this is a commit that cleans up SEQP regexes in
_preparation_ for generalized 2nd order operators. WE have not settled
the syntax and best implementation for these, but regardless this cleanup
is needed. Therefore it can go forward before we settle the
implementation details in #420
