I don't think we have decided on this already, have we?
The colon syntax would mean troubles for the parser to tell which
chained queries are legal and which are not legal. Imagine chained
queries like:
{{{
refersto:HEPnames:author:citedby:institution:country:author:ellis
}}}
with free permutations of various first and second order search
operators and operands.
Anyway, it is best to make country-based literature searching possible
by attacking this issue at the index time, as I mentioned in
ticket:688#comment:2 in the first remark. This is orthogonal to syntax
considerations.
