 Summary of discussion on inspire-dir:

 columns:

 1) published only
 2) all citeable (eprints/published, talks etc)
 3) last 5 years work

I think 3 columns is the comfortable maximum...but could be 4:

 4) #2 but no talks...(this could also be a button)

In each column we compute "h", mean, median, mode, and total citing papers
(and average stats on # of citing papers - stretching things vertically).

Then we offer a button to remove self- citations but we have to decide
whether we define self citations as things matching the search (option a)
 or
all authors of all papers citing those papers (option b)

Note that option b removes cites from author Alice only to papers where
 she
is an author, whereas option a removes cites from, say, affiliation SLAC
 on
all papers, if there is a search including SLAC.

I personally like option a, especially since it does the correct (I think)
thing when dealing with author pages where the phrase "remove self-cites"
seems to me to refer to the person whose name is at the top of that paper.
However, heath points out that if one does a search like "find a crewther
and a thomas" and clicks "remove self cites" one probably wants to remove
all self citations to these papers, not just the cites from the 6 papers
 matching that criteria.

So far, then I have votes for option a (TB, AH) and option b (HOC)

Heath's point is well taken though... possibly we could have a button
 for
 both.

"Remove cites from papers matching "<users search goes here>"" (i.e.
 Remove
cites from papers matching "a thomas and a crewther")
"Remove all self citations from each paper"

Does this seem too cluttered and confusing?
