So, regardless of answers to those other questions, this particular search
term will now parse correctly. The fix is available in my AFS invenio
repo as branch 554-seqp_operators_as_word_characters . If it's shown to
be a problem in the data, I can address such things as r=(+/-.05) in the
future.
