I would like to verify that the same applies to invenio-1.0.0 with
freshly installed Centos 6, the latest ghostsript 8.70 (Package:
ghostscript-8.70-11.el6_2.6.x86_64), and all the necessary plugins,
libraries and dependencies installed. BTW, this is a dummy installation
that has only the demo-site and demo-records loaded. Any idea what could
be going wrong?
I have found this: http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=691448
but probably it's not the reason for the error (although it might be
related)

Is this with latest master? There used to be a case of (unnecessary)
calls to ghostscript and older ghostscript versions some time ago, but
IIRC it was fixed some time ago. (In any case, the command tries to
create a text version out of compressed PS representing a figure, so it
is not essential.)
