She was instrumental in vastly improving the lives of thousands of handicapped children through her Special Olympics program. Mrs. Shriver asked me to entertain them as "Commander Apollo" at Special Olympics events in Northern Virginia from 1968 to 1971. She was awarded America's Medal of Freedom for her selfless contributions to the children. We will not see the likes of her again.
