Senior: Skills equivalent to8-10 years in comparable position

Perform physical and or logical data modeling.

As a Contractor (Senior Staff) in the IMS MIS group, your role will be to
work on migration and simplification of SQL Server 2005 code and processes.
This will also include new development on the Teradata data warehouse
platform as well as evolution of existing code. It’s critical for this
person to be highly functional in cross team collaboration efforts as
responsibilities will include working closely with shared MIS groups to
centralize data processing and reporting.

It goes without saying that you’re an expert SQL developer and able to
design and develop with minimum guidance. A strong background working with
SQL Server 2000/2005 is a requirement as digging deep into SQL Server
specifics (DTS, SSIS, SQL Agent, etc.) will be a major part of your day.
Exposure to Teradata is a plus but not a requirement for success in this
role.

* *

*Additional information:*

Very familiar in SQL Server (using 2005) environment, with exposure to
either Oracle or Teradata (preferred, not a requirement)

Have a number of processes supporting a sql server box, fair amount of data
there, trying to divest and move to more standardized Teradata environment.
Dive into existing processes, understand what is going on in there, and
write code that can be executed on teradata side. Move reporting layer notch
closer to the warehouse. In a few cases, data will be gathered outside of
data warehouse and joins data in the warehouse. In some cases, you will
write SQL values to Teradata right up front (rewriting on SQL Server Side).
This is not a heavy Teradata developer role. Currently 3-4 years into data
warehouse now, matured a lot. SQL Server code is becoming redundant and
passage of data is no longer necessary; just adds a layer of complexity and
some failures/headaches. Help move off 1/2/3 layers of data processing to be
fit for reporting.

*Ideal:*

Migration experience

Teradata

Vb.net scripting (SSIS)

ActiveX, VB Scripting (DTS)
