Job Title: Software Engineer (.Net) Location: De Pere, WI Duration: 6 Months Contract to Hire *There is a full-time position open for a qualified candidate, so we are specifically looking for a contract to hire scenario. The contract will last a minimum of 6 months before a conversion takes place *Should be strong in Backend development. *Candidates must be EAD, GC or Citizen Job Responsibilities: Lead the design and implementation of projects to enhance and extend rating and underwriting system capability. This role will require an individual who can think big picture but also work hands-on as a developer to bring these solutions to life. Work closely with end users to analyze needs and develop solutions for those needs. This role requires someone who has a passion for recognizing and understanding customer needs, and can use their design and development skills to create viable solutions. Contribute to the AAH technology roadmap by generating ideas for new projects, prototyping new solutions and participating in the estimation process for these efforts. Improve the health of system assets by identifying enhancements to improve performance, reliability, and resource consumption. Evaluate and troubleshoot root-cause analysis for production issues and system failures; determine corrective action(s) and propose improvements to prevent their recurrence. Work in a team environment and collaborate with peers and users through all phases of the software development lifecycle. Mentor other developers in the department on software engineering best practices. Provide governance oversight to ensure project adherence to development strategy, standards, policies, tools and procedures. Actively participate in the code review process to ensure development work adheres to standards and specifications (including peer review and code review external to team). Unit test all code and programs prior to releasing them to quality assurance. Quickly resolve all unit test issues and respond to inquiries in a timely manner as developed code/program moves through the testing process and into production. Maintain up-to-date business domain knowledge and technical skills in software development technologies and methodologies. Specific Skill or Knowledge Required: 5+ years of hands on development experience in C# or VB.NET 5+ years of practical experience and proven success with the design and construction of complex software applications Strong skills in object oriented analysis and design Experience developing or working with WCF web services Database skills that include the ability to write complex queries, data modeling and performance tuning Knowledge of unit testing practices and how to write testable code Strong analytic and problem solving skills Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to learn new skills quickly and independently A passion for continuous learning and staying up to date with the latest trends & technologies Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related engineering field Proven ability to successfully translate client/business needs into software designs Experience in performance tuning of .NET applications Experience in SOA and integrating together multiple systems from multiple vendors Experience with multi-threaded solutions Experience with the Oracle database and PL/SQL Ability to effectively apply technology/engineering knowledge-base to multiple and evolving programs and languages Property Casualty insurance industry experience.
