Role : Linux System Admin Location : Denver, Co Duration : 6 month Interview : Skype Job Description : The Linux Systems Administrator will support the backend architecture of systems for the ingest, encoding and delivery of video content to over 25 million customers including the engineering, system administration, and operation of content delivery systems and related devices. The Linux Systems Administrator will be working in a team environment providing support for the full range of activities necessary to deliver services on an end to end basis. Includes working with vendors to develop and implement new systems and network designs, deployment of new systems and software, providing support to our customers and business partners, performing upgrades and maintenance of the national Video On Demand infrastructure, and developing creative technical solutions improving performance and workflows as needed. The Systems Admin will also review and provide input into the design of new technical features and architectural changes to systems, define and implement best practices around operational processes while working to enhance or expand our clients SLA, and perform Windows Server and Linux operating system installations upgrades, patching, tuning, log parsing, troubleshooting, configuration, support, & maintenance. Perform application software installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting across products including but not limited to: NetApp, MySQL, Apache, Aspera, Puppet, Elemental, RGB Networks, thePlatform, ActiveMQ, KenCast, Harmonic, MediaInfo, Sencore, and other related devices. Assist in developing and implementing a capacity model, total cost of ownership model and augmentation plan for the platform. Required Skills · 5+ Years Linux Systems Administration with performance tuning, and troubleshooting experience in a large-scale (100+ servers), high availability environment. · 3+ years in-depth experience with IP networking oTCP/IP packet analysis, DNS, DHCP, NAT, SNMP · 4+ years Administration, maintenance, support, tuning and scaling of Application Servers oTomcat, Weblogic JBoss · 2+ years supporting large scale database application, clear understanding of databases and ability to write simple SQL queries · Must have strong scripting and automation skills with Perl, Bash, Python, Groovy (Creation of shell scripts to automate tasks and perform basic data analysis) oGroovy is highly desired, and will put the candidate to the head of the pack · Must have design and implementation of monitoring and notification approaches maximizing system stability, function and performance utilizing Splunk, Nagios, type solutions · Must have experience managing servers remotely in a distributed environment · Must be Team player with professional work ethic, positive attitude and ability to produce results with minimal day to day direction · Must have excellent communication and writing skills · Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
