Role : Websphere Portal/Java developer

Location : New Jersey 

Duration :Long term

Interview :  phone interview and then a one-time face to face interview. 

 

 

As a Websphere Portal / Java Developer you will be responsible for designing 
and developing portal based solutions in our IBM Websphere Portal environment. 
The position requires production experience in both Java and portal development 
and experience with JSR 168/286, Spring Portal MVC Framework, JSP and JSF. 
Proficiency with IBM Web Content Management and Search are beneficial, as well 
as, experience with web/rest services and service bus technology, e.g. TIBCO. 
The programmer will be responsible for assisting in the support and maintenance 
of existing Java applications, and will be required to document throughout 
the project and participate in code reviews. Additional tasks and 
responsibilities 
are assigned as necessary and based upon business needs.

 

o   4+ years developing JSR 168/286 Portlets.

o   2+ years developing with Web Services and have a working knowledge of J2EE 
concepts.

o   Strong web application server side and middleware development experience 
delivering Java/J2EE applications using some variation of technologies; such 
as Struts, Hibernate, JSP, JSF, and Spring Frameworks.

o   Proficiency creating portal IBM Web Content Mngmt (WCM) components, IBM 
Search Server, and Portal themes and skins.

o   Proficiency with Java Message Service (JMS) and Enterprise Service Bus 
(ESB) 

o   Strong knowledge in UI Frameworks like JQuery and DOJO

 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

o   Overall Responsibilities

o   Will participate in the design and development of portal/java based 
solutions 
in a windows, Linux, and AS400 based environment. 

o   Will be required to interact with various IT and business groups throughout 
the application development life-cycle, including requirements gathering, 
designing, 
and testing of all applications. 

o   Will be required to document throughout the project and participate in 
design and code reviews.

o   Will help in researching and testing new technologies and procedures.

o   Will be required to follow all existing development procedures and 
standards. 


 

IBM Websphere Portal and Java Application Development

o   Will design and develop portlets, pages, themes, and applications to 
enhance 
business solutions leveraging the IBM development tool suite.

o   Will design and develop portal content solutions leveraging IBM Web Content 
Management (WCM)

 

Support and maintenance of existing applications

o   Will assist in supporting existing Java applications leveraged across the 
enterprise.

o   Will work with support center and 2nd level support.

 

Environment Management

o   Will work with or as the team lead on projects, providing direction and 
assisting in mentoring in the Java/Portal environment. 

o   Will assist the administrators with the care and maintenance of the 
environments.

 

 

 QUALIFYING EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

o   Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills

o   BS in a Computer Related Major and/or 5 plus years of IT specific career 
experience

o   4 plus years of experience with Portal and Java development

o   Retail Experience is a plus but not mandatory

o   Ability to work effectively with people from various departments

o   Ability to lead a team through the entire portal development life cycle.
