*POSITION TITLE:* Operations Engineer

*Location:* Woonsocket, RI

*Duration:* 6 Months

*Rate: $55/hr on C2C*



We are small independent team contained within the Advertising department
of CVS/pharmacy. We are open source enthusiasts and readily embrace new
technologies. We build web applications in a variety of languages using a
diverse toolset. Agile methodologies are essential to our practice, both
Scrum and Kanban in separate instances. We are dedicated to learning and
collaboration, personal career growth, and maximizing our impact on the
business. Our software creates in-&shy;?store signing, automates newspaper
circular production, and handles image processing. Our users create and
manage content for CVS.com with the tools we have created. We build RESTful
APIs with PostgreSQL and Node.js. We write client applications in
Javascript using Angular and Ember. We are actively moving our corporate
partners towards a modern method of data exchange and now have consumers of
our API for promotional and product information in many departments
throughout the company.



We are looking for a motivated, thorough, and self-&shy;?sufficient person
to add to our team as an Operations Engineer. This is a
contract-&shy;?to-&shy;?hire opportunity based on performance. Operations
Engineers determine infrastructure needs and devise technological solutions
to keep the Advertising Department data center performant and reliable.
This role requires expertise with Linux, virtualization, and
automation/configuration management. Should have knowledge of vSphere,
Ansible and Puppet, PostgreSQL and MySQL database servers, and
web-&shy;?programming stacks (LAPP, LAMP, Ruby on Rails, etc.). Good
interpersonal skills for communication with the development team, users and
product owners. They must be able to contribute clear documentation on
every aspect of their role.



*PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*

•        Determines infrastructure needs and proposes solutions to the team

•        Manages datacenter hardware and device configurations

•        Manages virtualization services and automates provisioning of
virtual machines and containers.

•        Automates backups and performs routine audits.

•        Works with team to configure and optimize database servers.

•        Stays on top of new technological developments and readily
incorporates new practices and tools into skillset.



*REQUIRED SKILLS:*

•        Advanced Linux chops. Shell-&shy;?scripting.

•        Virtualization and clusters.

•        Automated configuration via Ansible playbooks.

•        Ability to work with database backends, primarily PostgreSQL and
MySQL.

•        Experience with web programming languages such as Ruby on Rails,
PHP, Python and others.

•        Maintenance and mastery of a variety of collaboration tools
including JIRA for ticketing, Stash for git repositories, RunDeck, Graylog,
and others.

•        Continuous integration demigod.

•        Enforce and reinforce best practices for the development team at
every opportunity.
