Job Title: Database Analyst / Intermediate

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Duration: 06+  Months Contract.



*Rate: $38/ hr on C2C All Inclusive*



*Purpose of Position/Summary*

This position will provide both analysis and database configuration to
assist ISDH in bringing in various sources of data into our John Hopkins
Essence system. The incumbent will work as part of a team composed of
developers, business analysts, and epidemiologists.  This position will be
responsible for performing analysis and testing various database processes
and stored procedures and views.  Knowledge of database design including
the effective use of keys and views is desired. Adherence to coding
standards and compliance with software development methodologies as defined
in established SDLC process flows as well as the ability to observe privacy and
security practices is required. This position is responsible for ensuring
that the business requirements are met in a timely manner. The analyst is
expected to submit ongoing technical recommendations to improvement and
streamline current business processes.



*Essential Duties/Responsibilities: *

   1. Confirms project requirements by studying user requirements;
   conferring with others on the ESSENCE project team.
   2. Experience validating and auditing data from various systems.
   3. Works with third party vendors to successfully meet customer
   requirements.
   4. Will build various queries, views, and stored procedures to analyze
   data in the database.
   5. Import and transform a large variety of data elements and file types
   (XML, CSV, Excel etc.).
   6. Will analyze the data coming in from various systems for accuracy and
   quality
   7. Provide update and maintenance to existing databases used by the
   Epidemiology Resource Center.



*Job Requirements: *

1.               Four (4) years, full-time professional work experience in
an Information Technology environment with Four (4) full years of database
experience with SQL, Oracle DB,

2.               Two (2) years accredited college training in Information
Technology or related field; or a Certificate in Information Technology is
a plus but not required

3.               Advance knowledge of the information systems development
life cycle, information technology, project tools and approaches to
development and implementations;

4.       Through knowledge of enterprise security practices;

5.       Ability to work in a team environment;

6.       Excellent knowledge of MS Excel as one tool for data analysis.

7.       Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

8.               Ability to maintain an effective a professional working
relationship with internal and external customers, and vendors.

*Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:  *This position has no
supervisory responsibilities



*Difficu**lty of Work: *

Work assignments involve the successful completion of a wide variety of
complex information technology database projects within the Office of
Technology and Compliance. The broad range of project goals requires
analysis of complex variables and problems. Good judgment and
specialized knowledge
are required to resolve problems and achieve the desired program goals.
Work assignments also require independent, critical thinking, and
decision-making abilities. The incumbent must have good communication
skills and the ability to understand the program area's business functions,
as well as its IT support needs.



*Responsibility: *

Position works independently following general guidelines of agency
management to ensure compliance with the agency's overall IT policies,
procedures, initiatives, and goals. Unusual problems or departures from the
normal guidelines are discussed with the team lead and division management
as required and as appropriate on relevant matters. Work is reviewed for
achievement of program area goals and objectives, compatibility with agency
mission and project plans, as well as general effectiveness of the IT
support provided.



*Personal Work Relationships: *

The position works with agency staff and IOT, for interpreting, developing
and implementing changes to the database systems. These contacts have an
important role in the development and ongoing maintenance of data format
for successful data flow through the database system.



*Physical Effort:*

Position requires long hours in front of a PC Computer, and may
occasionally move PCs or monitors.



*Working Conditions:*

Most work is performed indoors in a climate controlled environment
