With Gna's likely closure, Gna users might be interested in how to back up or migrate their project.
I've been coordinating an effort to back up Gna projects at <http://www.archiveteam.org/index.php?title=Gna!> This page both records what anonymous backups have already been done, and collects hints for Gna members who want to do their own backups / migration. In some cases (particularly the ticket trackers) it's possible for members to do a better job than the anonymous backups. In case you come to read this after gna.org has shut down: copies of source code repositories, download areas, and mailing lists are already saved and available; a snapshot of ticket trackers has also hopefully been saved and is likely to follow soon. I hope that these unilateral backup activities have not caused any trouble to the Gna admins or gna.org; that is of course not my intention. I've been coordinating archival efforts to minimise duplication, and hence load on gna.org. Most of the activity is now done, but if there is anything we can do differently, please let me know. (While I have Gna membership, I have not used my privileged access in the public backup effort, although of course I have used it in migrating the Freeciv project of which I am a member.) Thanks to Sylvain, Vincent and all the Gna admins for hosting us so well for so long. We'll miss you *snif* Jacob Nevins _______________________________________________ Project mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/project
