Because they are seperate browsers, Firefox actually contains 2 browser objects, the main tab browser and a seperate browser for the sidebar. This is no the case (since I last looked) in thunderbird and seamonkey.
I have seen no explicit cachin mechanisms put to work for the sidebar browser. So this is why my assumption of needing to add my own caching routines. Bas.
