The context is that this user wrote to feedback listing some reasons why he does not like Mailman, and offering some alternatives.

David probably cc'ed project owners to get opinions.

In the short term, I don't see us turning off Mailman, because many projects use lists daily still. If it becomes a maintenance headache in the medium-long term, then we might consider switching it off and using Drupal forums only.

        We had set up Drupal with the thought that forums there could be
        an alternative
        for mailman mailing lists.  Making that work as a replacement is
        probably going
        to be much easier than implementing something else.
