Chrono itself is unit agnostic. You decide what system of units to use, and you are responsible for making sure the units are consistent throughout your model. As such, if the engine model you mention is something you put together, you know what units any given output will have.
In Chrono::Vehicle, we had to settle on a consistent system of units. Everything in Chrono::Vehicle is in SI units, unless specified otherwise. There are only a few places in Chrono::Vehicle where inputs or outputs are expected/provided in units other than SI (that is solely for convenience and relates only to angles or rotational speeds); where that is the case, this is clear from the function name (e.g., ChAutomaticTransmissionShafts:: GetUpshiftRPM) or from the name of the JSON key (e.g., "Upshift RPM" when specifying a shafts-based automatic transmission through a JSON specification file). As such, if you are using an engine model provided in Chrono::Vehicle, the engine speed will be returned in rad/s. --Radu From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Chaschin Andrew Sent: Thursday, November 7, 2024 7:39 AM To: ProjectChrono <[email protected]> Subject: [chrono] list of measurement units Where can I find a complete list of measurement units used in Chrono? I am using a model of an engine, for example, and I am not sure what units the rotational speed is output in—whether it is in radians per second or RPM. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "ProjectChrono" group.
