Undersecretary Dr Adel Al-Falah, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony to honor winners of the Holy Quran competition, said that the ministry has been debating the monitoring of Shiite mosques for a long time now. He added that this has been in coordination with members of the Shiite community. “Mourning houses (Husseiniyyas) are not classified as worshipping sites and the Ministry’s Charter of the Mosque does not apply on them,” he said.
