Mereka diberi makan dan naungan dan tidak disiksa, meskipun dilaporkan bahwa Hazrat Umar ingin mencabut gigi2 Suhayl (tawanan perang) dengan berkata pada Rasul Allah: Biarkan saya cabut dua gigi depan Suhayl agar lidahnya keluar dan dia tidak bisa berkata melawanmu.[Ibn Ishaq, p.312; Tabari, vol.vii, p.71]
