Arabia waiting for RI`s explanation before flight ban comes into force Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Saudi Arabia is till giving Indonesia a chance to give a clarification on the safety of its flights before the ban on Indonesian airliners comes into effect. "As to the decision on the flight ban, Saudi Arabia would normally follow the European Union`s decision. In view of the good relations with Indonesia, Saudi Arabia will first ask for an Indonesia clarification," spokesman fo the Transportation Mininstry Bambang S Ervan told Antara here on Monday. Bambang admitted that his office had received a letter from the Saudi Arabian government through the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) saying that Saudi Arabia often followed the European Union`s step of recently imposing a ban on Indonesian airliners from flying in the EU airspace. However, it does not mean that Saudi Arabia has the heart to immediately impose a flight ban on Indonesian Garuda airliners which have been flying to Saudi Arabia eight times a week. GACA, he said, will make a final decision after hearing an official explanation from Indonesia. "We highly praise the notification from the Saudi Arabian GACA.
