Glitter was denied entry to Hong Kong and twice to Thailand this week, after he refused to return to Britain. His Thai Airways flight landed at Heathrow Airport in west London at 0710 BST, where he will be met by police. Glitter is likely to be taken to a police station or magistrates' court to sign the sex offenders register. He will be met by officers from Operation Jigsaw, the Metropolitan Police's specialist public protection team that monitors paedophile and other serious criminal activity in London. They will tell him he has three days to sign the sex offenders register, although his solicitor told BBC News he expected Glitter to sign it later on Friday morning. Glitter will be subject to monitoring and have to tell the police if he plans to go abroad. He can live where he wants in the UK, but he will be legally bound to notify the police of his intended address. He could also face an order prohibiting him from going near children or using the internet. National Association of Probation Officers assistant general secretary Harry Fletcher told BBC News Glitter was likely to be assessed as high risk. "There will be a duty to monitor his case, probably on a monthly basis at a meeting, and put in place appropriate restrictions and surveillance," he said. It will be the second time Glitter has been included on the sex offenders register. He was placed on the list after being convicted of possessing child pornography in 1999. Refused entry Glitter, 64, whose real name is Paul Gadd, sold millions of records as a glam rock star in the 1970s, with hits including I'm The Leader Of The Gang. He also has a conviction in the UK, having been jailed for four months in 1999 for possessing images of child abuse. Earlier in the week Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said it was her view that Glitter should be given a Foreign Travel Order, banning him from overseas travel. Glitter has reportedly been attempting to avoid returning to the UK since he was deported from Vietnam on Tuesday. The Thai authorities said they told him no other country would take him. When the flight from Ho Chi Minh City stopped in Bangkok he refused to take the connecting flight to the UK. He made a plea for medical treatment after saying he was suffering a heart attack. But the Thai authorities refused him entry and threatened to deport him to Britain. He then boarded a Thai Airways flight to the Chinese territory of Hong Kong, but was also refused permission to enter there. On Thursday he returned to Bangkok, and eventually agreed to travel to London after the Thai authorities again said they would deport him. The BBC's Jonathan Head says 19 countries had said they would refuse Glitter entry.
