West Java Legislative Council Angry over Porn Web Site Addresses on Official
Computer

Bandung, West Java. Legislators from the West Java Legislative Council were
aghast upon discovering that a touch-screen computer in the council building
had been misused to open pornographic Web sites.

A legislator from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Deden
Darmansyah, told state news agency Antara that it was an abuse of council
property.

"The public relations division, as the provider for information and
documentation, must take legal action because the people who opened the porn
sites have attempted to disparage the legislators of West Java Legislative
Council [DPRD]," Deden said.

On Wednesday morning, a number of reporters who wanted to open news sites on
the touch-screen computer found a multitude of porn site addresses in the
history bar.

Out of 120 Web addresses listed, 60 percent were pornographic sites.

They told the head of the council's administrative division Ari Hermadi.

"We don't know who clicked on the porn sites," Ari said. "This is an open
computer, anyone can access it, but due to this case we will have to limit its
use. This must have been the work of irresponsible people."

On Monday, two public computer screens in the House of Representatives (DPR)
suddenly began broadcasting pornographic images.

The two touch-screen public information terminals, located near the media room
in Nusantara III, were seemingly hacked to redirect to a porn Web site. It was
reportedly discovered just after lunch by a journalist who tried to access the
House schedule for the day.

But for the next 15 minutes, what was displayed on the screen were extremely
hard-core photographs and advertisements — including one for "young teens" —
from an adult Web site that is banned in neighboring Singapore and Malaysia.

Security personnel had to switch off the terminals to stop the offensive
broadcast.

Lawmakers were far from amused. "It's not a funny incident. Someone must be
held responsible for it," said Roy Suryo, a Democratic Party lawmaker.

An angry Marzuki Alie, the Democratic House speaker, said a hacker was likely
behind the prank. "We may file a police complaint," he said.
