Kama Sutra gets an audiobook Good news for couples who want to spice up their sex life. A British publisher has revealed plans for an audiobook version of the classic Indian guide to sex and human relations, the Kama Sutra. The first of its kind, the ambitious project will be handled by Beautiful Books, which now handles the digital downloads of the 1600-year-old book. The audiobook will be narrated by UK actress Tanya Franks (Eastenders, Ashes to Ashes, Skins) and includes the full text of the original guide. Yes, just press play and follow Tanya's directions. Do expect loads of sound effects. It will be available for download from Beautiful Books for £8.99 (RM45). Once downloaded to a computer it can be transferred onto an MP3 Player, iTunes, or a CD. The Kama Sutra uses the text of an ancient Indian Hindu script ascribed to Mallanaga Vatsyayana, who originally wrote it for India's Warrior caste. The first English translation was published in 1883 under the guidance of the Victorian Imperialist explorer, Richard Burton. The classic guide has been a best-seller in its own right and has also seen several variations over the years, including a 2003 pop-up book (The Pop-Up Kama Sutra: Six Paper-Engineered Variations).
