FBR protests against Greenpeace The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Thu, 07/14/2011 5:48 PM The Betawi Brotherhood Forum (FBR) staged a rally in front of Greenpeace headquarters in Kemang, South Jakarta, on Thursday to protest against the negative reports that the organization has published about Indonesia. Around 50 FBR members brought posters reading: "Greenpeace, you have to comply with the rules of the Jakarta administration," and: "Foreign NGOs must obey Jakarta regulations," to urge Greenpeace to register themselves at the National and Political Unity Agency (NPUA), in Jakarta. "If they do not register, it will mean that they are illegal," FBR spokesman, Fajri Husbin, said on Thursday. Fajri, who brought with him a book entitled The Lies of Greenpeace, added that Greenpeace had besmirched Indonesia's reputation through the reports they had written, as quoted by tribunnews.com. Greenpeace campaigner Joko Arif said that the rally was misguided because Greenpeace is not a civil organization. Hence, it is not necessary for them to register at the NPUA. "We are just a gathering," he said. "Until this day, there is no regulation that stipulates that 'a gathering' such as Greenpeace must register at the agency."
