Rick, This is a list from our mechanical engineer who has worked with file translations into Protel. I will add to this list in saying a DWG format is preferrable. You should also save your files under a revision 12 format. Primatives are a preferred export, when going in the reverse direction.
1) Do not use blocks, wblocks etc... 2) Do not use attributes text boxes 3) Do not use paperspace 4) Do not use mtext paragraph editor, single text boxes only 5) Do not use hatching 6) Do not use special fonts 7) Do not use polylines 8) there will always be font size conversion problems 9) keep everything in first quadrant (nothing to the left or below of 0,0) 10) purge the database of blocks etc. prior to dxf/dwg out 11) import into protel first if you wish to export it into PCAD I hope this helps. The missing translation tool may be a service pack issue. Service pack 6 works well under Windows 2000, but it appears as a source of pursecution under NT 4.0. Fabian Hartery Research Engineer, B.
