I used to use combination of nVidia (AGP) and ATI (PCI) card. ATI had better picture at high resolutions/refresh rates. Bad picture on CRT seems to be related to price and manufacturer of the card, nothing nVidia specific. Thou I have had some problems with their drivers.
Now I use Matrox P650, dual outputs and great picture on CRT's. In future (distant one) I plan to upgrade to dual LCD with DVI connectors. Digital link to LCD does make hell of a difference.
