Hi, if you are using php, there is a nice compression script here http://rakaz.nl/item/make_your_pages_load_faster_by_combining_and_compressing_javascript_and_css_files. I tested it with prototype and scriptacolous and it makes pageloads a breeze. As a bonus, it concatenates css files as well.
