"ain't working" means nothing. What happens? What do you expect to happen?
Also... I've never heard of onforminput (I'm not familiar with HTML5) but I think it's premature to be using HTML5 facilities unless you know which browsers your users will be using. In any case, it is at least being discussed to remove it. (http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/ public-webapps/2010OctDec/0183.html) I don't know why you are posting this on a prototype-scriptaculous list, since you appear to use neither in your script.
