Hi airframe-y people! We have to redo our umbilical cord connector because we need two more pins on it, and I don't like the current connectors we have:
- they're really expensive ($15 for each piece, male and female!) - they're hard to solder - while the ejection mechanism we have is clever, it scares me a bit in terms of possible failure mechanisms It could be that what we have *is* really good, and all we need to do is rev it, but I'd like to maybe think a bit about a 3D printed system that: - is extremely reliable - "can't" bind - is relatively cheap I'd really like to move on this since we need it right away: if any mechanically people are free this Friday, please come join us at the hack day in 84 Lab (FAB 84) after 1pm and let's discuss the current system, and ideas for better ones!
