I'm in Windoz right now because I still can't use the Netgear MA401
wireless with Linux. So, I can't thank whoever sent me info on where to
find drivers for the card because that email is in my Linux partition...
In any event. I got the drivers and the instructions. Installed and
configured per the instructions. When my laptop boots, the beeps now
indicate that Linux finds both cards (I also have a Netgear FA411 ethernet
card). Still no joy in Tokyo, however, as the card still doesn't connect
to my Netgear access point. Purely through serendipity, I happened to
start neat from the command line one time and discovered that error
messages are being generated. To wit:
Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; No such device.
Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; No such device.
Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; No such device.
Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; No such device.
Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; No such device.
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth1: unknown interface: No such device
eth1: unknown interface: No such device
So, while something during boot sees the card, and the prism2 drivers seem
to load, neat (or whatever it's a front end to) doesn't see the device (at
least, I think that's what those messages mean). Is this enough to buy me
a vowel?
