i lost the RHN applet. does anyone know how to get it back?

also, am i right in assuming the XMMS applet that used to be in 7.3 is
no longer? i liked the ability to be able to change tracks etc from the
panel. if it does exist, anyone have any idea how to get it back?

there are a few other applets missing as well. such as the system
monitor where one could launch GTOP from. not essential but nice to look
at from time to time.

as for my kernel compiling problems, it seems that doing "make mrproper"
before anything seems to work better.

then...
make xconfig
make dep
make bzImage
make modules
make modules_install

etc.......

i still seem to get the odd problem with "concatenation of string
literals.......... etc etc" when trying to compile IR support for my
dell inspiron 4000. making them as modules or building them into the
kernel doesn't seem to make a difference. so for now, i've taken it out
entirely.

i also managed to fix a problem that has been annoying me since redhat
7.1 - module char major 10 135 it turns out is the real time clock
support in the kernel. i've built it as a module so there should be no
error messages anymore.

in general, i love the new look. it does look like it's been designed
for the general user in that much of the customisation is either been
taken out or hidden away - which is annoying in some respects but also
understandable. i couldn't get XMMS to play mp3's but having installed
the plugin from psyche.freshrpms.net i'm hoping this problem is fixed.

look forward to hearing from you all.

regards,

andrew.
