Just installled a box with Psyche - whole thing (custom - install everything), a fresh install - not an upgrade.
Looks nice BTW :-) Odd thing. I can't get either 1.3.1_05 or 1.4.1 Sun JDK to work. Using the self extracting binary (non-RPM). 1.3.1_05 installs, but when I run gives: java -version /local/jdk1.3.1_05/bin/i386/native_threads/java: relocation error: /local/jdk1.3.1_05/jre/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so: undefined symbol: throw_pending_exception__1(InterpreterRuntimeP10JavaThread 1.4.1 will not extract (fails in checksum). Both work just fine on RH 7.2 and RH 7.0 boxes (by that I mean the same install files - not just the same versions). I did try extracting the 1.4.1 JDK on RH 7.2 - then tar and gzipping it - but the RH 8 box gives checksum errors on gzip -d (and both the 7.2 and 7.0 boxes manage the gzip file just fine). I thought that it may be jst that Sun needed time to catch up - but I noticed other posts on the list that talked about successfully installed java. Anyone any ideas? Is this a java problem? Does it look like a corrupt install (everything installed from the RH CDs appears to work)? Any hints welcome :-) -- Chris Searle
