I use SecureCRT to connect to my servers, and for vt100 emulation.
I've been doing variations for this for years, and with RedHat since
about 5.x. No problems.
I have setup two RedHat 8.0 machines, and I have problems. Some
characters with with formatting information (say bold) come out scrambled.
As an example, I did a "man cp" and show the first line that gives
help for the "-a" option.
RedHat 7.2 machine:
-a, --archive
RedHat 8.0 machine:
−a, −−archive
I'm using SecureCRT, connecting through the SSH2 protocol. I have
tried almost every terminal type supported (vt100, vt220, ANSI, Linux)
with no luck. Connecting VIA OpenSSH from my XP laptop has the same issues.
The text consoles on these machines work fine, as do xterm and it's
bretheran via VNC. Using the default bash login scripts instead of my
own customized scripts makes no difference either.
So, has anyone else seen this, or failed to see this? Are there any
suggestions about what the problem may be?
