Well, that bites. Maybe it has something to do with the SMP kernel. My lowly boxen all have single processors. Also, I noticed you are using the new 2.4.18-17 kernel. Have you tried it with the 2.4.18-14 stock kernel from RH 8.0? If you are in the mood to tinker, maybe you can try booting the single processor kernel just to see if it can load the megaraid driver.
