OK, I waiting 3 full days, going into 4 before reposing. Please, can anyone tell me where to fix this or when it broke?

I have looked through all the startup rc files and can not find a place to change this back to the way it was. A blank/empty result or the NIS value of domain name. I also looked in /etc/sysconfig for clues but came up empty handed. Can somebody point me in the right direction?
