Thanks, did as you said but it didn't work. :-(
Following is more accurate info. Eventual idea is Home LAN, 2 machines,
both linux, this machine is hooked to DSL (perm. IP),
eth0, and other machine hooks to this via eth1.
At boot everything works:
[donius@warwick donius]$ /sbin/ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:03:6D:1F:D2:44
<PROPER WORKING ADDRESSES HERE>
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:200 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:222 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
RX bytes:92527 (90.3 Kb) TX bytes:28723 (28.0 Kb)
Interrupt:10 Base address:0x9000
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:152 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:152 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:7696 (7.5 Kb) TX bytes:7696 (7.5 Kb)
But if i activate eth1, now eth0 looses capabilities.
[donius@warwick donius]$ /sbin/ifconfig

I know nothing about networking and am starting to think i should post
there, but i really have found you bunch of guys to be so helpful w/ my
problems, i wanted to try here first.
thanks for the info so far, dw.
