Get the drivers from Intel and then follow the instructions. It's pretty simple. I have a Dell Dimension 4500S and had the same problem.
(By the way, to edit text files you'll need something like Pine's PICO. Look on rpmfind.net for the rpm. Then do rpm -i <name of file>.rpm. Logout and then on again, and the type pico <filename>. It's a pretty simple and powerful text editor). You'll also need root user priveliges to edit some files...
