Hi,

After installing the update, just go inside the folders I mentioned in previous emails, and go through the list. You'll see all the plugins in there. If it's certain plugin is offered in only AAX format, instead of deleting entire folder, you can just delete the ones that are available in old format as well. Then you can mix and match. Personally it's more important for me to be able to use plugins that I can access parameters, than to use plugins that I can only access presets.

Does this also apply to newer plugins? I hadd an offer of some new plugins, a
reverb and some kind of delay thingimajig, but i don't know if they're only in
aax format.

Hi,

AAX plugins are not accessible yet. That's why it's important to delete the aax
plugin folder. Then the PT falls back to the old plugin format, and you can
access the parameters with voiceover, at least the automatable ones.
That way you can use the latest pt update, and at the same time use the plugins.

No, I don't think they are, at least I don't know of anyone getting them to
work. I would go so far as to guess that they won't be until at least pro tools
11, although as I said, that is merely a guess.

Hi All,

I just downloaded PT 10.3.3 from the link below, and installed it.

http://secure.digidesign.com/services/avid/kb/downloads.cfm?digiArticleId=43732
There are two files to download.
Avid_Virtual_Instruments_10_3_Installer_77520.dmg
Pro_Tools_10_3_3_Installer_78570.dmg

Those are full installer, so they recommended removing the old PT. Using the
Uninstalling app included in the installer image, I clean uninstalled my PT
10.01 before installing the new one. Then, I just removed the folder
Library/Application Support/Avid/Plugins that has AAX plugins.
FYI, the old plugins are located in Library/Application
Support/Digidesign/Plug-ins, and they have .dpm extension. AAX plugins are
located in Library/Application Support/Avid/Plugins, and they have .aaxplugin
extension.

I have to go through the list to make sure I'm not missing any plugins, but all
the effects and instruments seem to work fine.
I thought some people might be interested.
