Free updates continue as usual. The subscription plan is a way for Avid to 
secure a steady cash flow. You may recall that, for HD users, the upgrade from 
version 9 to 10 (or was it 10 to 11) was $1000. Another time, the upgrade was 
$600 and it was never less than $300 going between major versions. For LE or 
host systems it was always less than that but still a chunk of change. The 
subscription model spreads the cost out over a yearly figure and ends up being 
cheaper in the long run but with a support contract. Anyway, Meter issue is 
fixed and will roll out in the next .x release in just a couple of weeks.
