there are  a couple things going on there.

The bass is being ducked very briefly to let the kick drum through.
But it's also being distorted, with the distorted version blended in at low level to make it growl.

The other thing in there is a bass synth that the band really wanted to hear, and that sometimes blends right in with the bass guitar.
